30/30 in April-The April Prompt-A-Day Challenge...

I am posting today for the April Prompt-A-Day Challenge!
The poem a day challenge from the awesome
If you enjoy poetry in all its wonderful forms,
or, like me and just discovering poetry,
go visit  Kerry's blog!

The Challenge today is to write about love with an object that represents love. The poem shared for today on Imaginary Garden with Real Toads is great!

The Heart-Shaped Rock

Do you remember, years ago
Finding our first heart-shaped rock
We held it so tightly in our hands
bringing it home from our magical walk

Do you remember years ago
Taking the dogs for their evening walk
I rarely looked up, as I was on a hunt
To find another heart-shaped rock

Do you remember years ago
Me always hunting for those heart-shaped rocks
I poured all my faith of our love, my dear
for every one I found on our magical walks

No, you cannot remember years ago
The story of the heart-shaped rocks
For, alas, that was just a dream I had
of you and I on a magical walk.

Notes: I hope my writing is poetry, please let me know.
I hunted for a picture of my heart-shaped rocks
I could not find one and no time to take one if
I wanted to post. It just wasn't meant to be.

This is so sweet, so tender!❤️ I love the image of heart-shaped rock, as a token of love. You are at a wonderful phase, having just discovered poetry and filled with love for writing. Yes it is indeed poetry. Poetry, is a means of expression. It's our way of expressing feelings, ideas, opinions. And though, there are various forms that enhance this art, I believe poetry is what comes out of heart. Especially love the closing lines; "No, you cannot remember years ago The story of the heart-shaped rocks For, alas, that was just a dream I had of you and I on a magical walk." Beautifully penned. Thank you so much for participating.❤️

Lots of love,

Thank you so much Sanaa! Your comment means so much to me, and especially since today was your prompt. I love to write and I am going to keep on writing and practicing. Hugz, Rasz (the ending was my favorite too)

The ending was so sad. It made me think of an old Motown song, Just My Imagination. It suits the longing in that last verse.

there is something magical about heart shaped rocks, isn't there? ~

Yes, it's a poem: a sweet and moving one. You used repetition very well.

I enjoyed this poem especially the surprise ending.

It's a beautiful and touching poem, and the surprising end made it more so. I, too love the heart-shaped rock as a token of love.

I love your use of repetition, the words "walk" and "rock" keep me sharing the experience with the speaker, feeling how important these things are to her, how difficult it is to reach the end of the walk to find out that her partner did not appreciate the rocks... he doesn't even remember.

It's a beautifully bittersweet poem, and perfect for the prompt.

Thank you all so much for your beautiful comments! The feedback you have given me is so encouraging. I am hoping to be able to merge short poems with my artwork.

Great choice of a matching song Rommy. I love the old Motown music, and the song would match!

Grapeling, I find heart-shaped rocks everywhere and have for years. I don't bring them all home, just the ones that feel like they want to. Yes they are very special to me.

Rosemary, thank you so much for letting me know it was a poem. I wasn't sure about the repetition, I just liked the flow.

Cressida, thank you for your comment and I am glad you liked it.

Khaya, thank you and heart-shaped rocks are so special to me.

Magaly, thank you and this poem came straight from my heart. I think I have been alone too long...no I have been. Maybe all my heat-shaped rocks will bring me my true love.
