29 Faces of February...the last day...

Today is the last day of the 29 Faces of February Challenge!
I made it and did all 29 faces.
That was a big challenge just for myself,
and I feel so proud.

#28

and #29

Big thanks to thank 6B KOH-I-NOOR
Progresso woodless graphite pencil,
my erasers and my blending stick
for all of their hard work:

A big thank you to my Muse.
And another big thank you my dog Buddy,
for not trying to play ball when I was drawing.
Look at this cute face:

This was a GREAT Challenge and I learned so much throughout it.
I have come a long way since the last Challenge in 2014.
Who knew I could even draw?

I appreciate everyone who visited me and left such encouraging,
inspiring and happy comments!
I think that is what keeps all of us bloggers going.

And a HUGE THANK YOU,
to the host of this Challenge
Without her there would be no Challenge
and it would have just been February.

I am ready to paint and create.
What about you?

See you in a couple days!
Big hugs to all!

29 Faces of February...#25, #26 & #27...

Today is the 27th day of the
hosted by the incredible

Here is my #25 Face:

I like her because she can be anyone; have any color hair, eyes, skin tone...
all you need is your imagination!

Face #26:

Here is a young woman from a Matriarchal  Tribe.
I think she looks loving and strong!

And today's face:

During this Challenge, I never had a plan for a face, I just let it flow out.
Well, except the dog from my brother's letters.
I wonder where these faces come from,
especially when the faces look real, like her.

She is someone, or was, I think.
I would love to know who she is and her story,
And why did I draw her?
Maybe I will never know,
maybe someone will recognize her one day.
For now, the real looking faces are just a mystery.
A beautiful mystery.

How do you feel about the faces you draw?
Do you draw people you know?
So you ever wonder where your faces came from?

Only 2 days left of the Challenge!
Hope you are having a great weekend!

29 Faces of February...#24...a very special post...

Welcome to the last week of 29 Faces of February Challenge.
This awesome Challenge is hosted by
the incredibly artistic Ayala Art

Here is my face #24:

Not the kind of faces that I have been doing,
yet this one has a real story.

My brother passed away several years ago.
He had done 3 1/2 tours in Vietnam.
He wrote me as often as he could and his words were very simple as if he was talking to a 3 year old, not a 8 to 12 year old.

He started every letter calling me "Ipswitch",
a name that stuck even as I was 49 when he passed.
He ended every letter with this dog drawing.

As I started to draw a face last night, this dog was all I could think about.
I hadn't thought about this drawing for years and here I was,
sitting and trying to create a face, and yet here was this dog.
I knew this was today's post.
I have shed a lot of tears since last night.

So today's face is dedicated to my Big Brother Bruce,
from his little Ipswitch!

29 Faces of February...18, 19, 20, 21...

I feel like February has gone by so slowly
yet I have not got much done this month except for faces!
Here are four more faces to catch me up to today.

This is "Ily", and amazing warrior and healer.
I look forward to coloring her some evening,
with deep brown, loving eyes:

"Sage Woman" represents all of us as we face the fire, smoke, wind
and still stand strong...no matter what is trying to knock us off balance.

Not sure where she came from or why her eyes are lime green :-)
She is definitely upset with something:

I thought the Girl With the Attitude needed a friend:

Oops! Forgot to color half her belt.
Or it's just a back and white belt...
Yeah, that's it!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

29 Faces of February...#15, 16 & 17...

Good morning everyone!
It has been Spring weather this last week out here,
highs in the 70's!
Just beautiful, except the trees and animals get confused;
it is still winter.
Today the much needed rain is coming
and it is really getting cold & windy outside.
Love the rain!

Here is #15...
She was suppose to be one of those wide apart,
cute, whimsical faces...
that didn't work:

Face #16:

Face #17

Have a Fantastic #17 Faces of February!
See you in a couple days!

29 Faces in February...faces 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14 (whew!)...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Over the weekend, I got caught up on faces.
It was fun!
I had an epidural Friday and was sedated.
When I got home, I felt okay...
the following girl was my first attempt to draw:

I think she's kind of cute.

The next one I was able to fix a little:

Evidently this is why you aren't suppose to do anything for the 24 hours following sedation.

Here are three more faces I got done in my recliner:
 to...
working on 3/4 face with shading...and also working on hair:

I didn't like her in the background with only colored pencil:

So she was darkened up with ink markers:

Working on hair & shading:

I am all caught up on faces, YES!!!
Because of my body, it's always a challenge to take on a Challenge and get through it.
I feel really happy that I am on track,
it means so much to me.
I imagine anyone in chronic pain can understand.

Here is a link to the Challenge:
if you want to know more.

Have a beautiful day and a Happy Valentine's Day!
See you tomorrow...

29 Faces in February, Face 8&9, I think...

Happy Day 12 in 29 Faces in February!
Thank you Ayala Art for hosting this fun Challenge.
It's great, it's learning, it's fun and it's meeting new blogging friends,
and who could ever have enough blogging friends?

I'm behind in posting and am posting the last two I have downloaded.
I am having an epidural in a couple hours so hopefully be back to more myself this afternoon.

Face 8:

I found my Prismcolor colored pencils and thought I would try them again.
As you can tell from her hair, I could not get that complete coverage I like or had to continually sharpen my pencils which added to my frustrations.

I used the Koh-l-Noor Progresso woodless colored pencils.
I LOVE my Progresso woodless pencils!
I gave my Prismcolor pencils to my son's girlfriend.

And Face # 9:

I went back to my woodless pencils on her.
She was fun and has a little attitude.
I want to try a series of her.

(This will be me when I loose weight!)

I have more however do not have time this morning to download them and get them posted.
I won't be posting more today and maybe not tomorrow,
or out visiting on the computer.
I have to see how the epidural goes.

Have an AWESOME day!
Hopefully I will be seeing everyone tomorrow or Sunday!

Hugs, Rasz

Face #7...

Here is Face #7 for the 29 Faces of February 2016.
Thank you Ayala Art for hosting this Challenge!

So, here she is...

She became one hot mess drawing.
There was more drawing above her head,
however it became awful and it got cut out!

After using a black Sharpie on the pencil lines,
erasing the pencil marks wrinkled the paper all up,
lots of times.

I still think she will be fun to color,
so I have not given up on her yet.
Actually, through it all, she survived, right?

Hope everyone is having a great day!
Plan on posting three tomorrow!
See you then.

A very sunny Sunday...29 Faces...Face #6...

Happy Sunday!
Here is my Face #6.

I am LOVING THE 29 FACES of FEBRUARY!
I looked backed on my faces from the 2014 Challenge
And I created "faces", rushed through drawings
without much thought.

This time my faces are calling me to create!
They want details. They want color. They want a soul.
And most of all, they want to be loved!

When I would watch Guada create faces, she would always say;
"Oh, I love, love, love her!", and I would wonder what that felt like.

I am now learning what that feels like and it's GREAT!
SO...that is what I am feeling in my faces.
I want to know who they are and where they came from.

The eyes are the mirror into our soul, someone said.
I realize the eyes in my faces are an opening to something, somewhere,
to someone.

So what are YOU learning from YOUR faces?

Have a GREAT Sunday, and see you tomorrow.

3rd, 4th & today's faces...

Well I finally got a new mouse for my computer,
so here is the faces for the 3rd, 4th and 5th.
The first two are ink and colored pencil.
The last one is done with graphite pencil

My favorite; Pink on  Pink on Pink!
Size 11"x8.5"

Trying a heart shaped face and new hairstyle.
My son said she has a lazy eye, lol!
Size 11"x8.5"

She is sketched out in graphite pencil.
I want to work on her some more, this was just a fast sketch.
Size 9"x12"

That's it for my faces.
Have a great weekend!

29 Faces of February, Day 2...

YAY!!!
Ayala Art is putting on the
29 FACES OF FEBRUARY 2016,
and I am joining in.
For more info go HERE.

I was gone all day yesterday so I was unable to post on the first day.
So I have a couple faces to post today.
My mouse broke and I don't know how to crop pics
without it...sorry...hopefully I get a new mouse soon.

Once I started this one, I realized it was going to be for the BEST hairdresser,
AKA: The Hair Diva.
She really can make miracles with hair.

This next one was suppose to be the 2 faces for today.
Obviously that didn't happen,
however the finished face has probably 10-15 layers of acrylic paint,
of all different colors which took all day.
Either I stopped or posted tomorrow, lol!

She looks a little like my beautiful friend Cat!

It snowed this morning here in Northern California.
The snow line is up the road so we don't see snow
in our yards too often.

The snow stayed around for a couple hours,
then turned into a snow/mud mess.
My white poodle liked playing in it.

"Ooops!"
That's the best face of my day!

Hope everyone had a great day.
See you tomorrow.
Prayers of safety out to all those in the big storm/tornado/snow path.
