it's paint party friday and your invited...

Every Friday Eva and Kristin host Paint Party Friday!
Go HERE to find all the amazing artist playing this week and maybe make a few new friends too!

I have been struggling with inspiration.
I have plenty of WIPs, all the materials and paint I need, just no inspiration.
And I start and just stare, thinking some inspirational lightning bolt will hopefully hit me and off I will go, conquering any project lined up.
Alas, no lightning bolt.

I have been working on this painting for WEEKS!

I woke up this morning and started on it again, changing the center of each flower and the petals.
The butterfly picture in the background is also another WIP that I have ignored for months. It started as a canvas that I would wipe my wet paintbrushes on.

For the past couple days I have gotten out my new Tulip fabric paints of all kinds; markers, neon, puff paint, 3D paint and 24 tubes of standard colors.
The plan was to see how the fabric paints work compared to the acrylic that I normally use on fabric projects like purses.
Luckily there was a spot left on the floor for my 5' folding painting table.

Below is a lime green purse with the beginning of what will be colorful leaves:

And the one thing I did manage to finish was one of my Forest Faeries. Her name is Vine:

That's it for me this week.
Time to go out an visit, that's the fun part!

Have a Fantastic PPF!

taking it outside with the hummingbirds...

It's such a beautiful day that I setup my painting outside to join the hummingbirds. Their feeder was just to the left of where I was painting.
I also realized taking my work outside in the bright sun made a HUGE difference on what it looked like (duh, I know...haha!).

Enjoy my friends below:

Have a Terrific Thursday!

that was one productive weekend...

I had a GREAT weekend!
I made it to Paint Party Friday evening,
arriving late although I think that is fashionable, right?

Got up early Saturday morning and had coffee while visiting as many of the Friday party attendees as I could. Saw some fantastic artist bloggers and gained a couple followers too!

Sunday was beautiful, warm and sunny. Little N and I went outside and set up art areas.
I was planning on finishing up my flower painting.
Little N was finishing up her "color me" tote bag I made for her.
This tote has been her favorite coloring project and I think I have discovered a great gift for girls. I plan on making several more and put them out on my Etsy Store.

It started getting a little windy and I found one of my hairs in the center of a flower I was painting!
Ahhh!!!! That was worse than finding a hair in my food.
I have no idea why it bothered me so much but I was disgusted until I got it out of the think mix of paint and soft gel medium.
Time to get the painting out of the springtime breeze.

I had my spray paints outside with me and needed to make more flower petals with darker paint, so I sprayed three paper towels.

They came out great. I'm not sure if I can cut any of these up since these colorful papers would make some great backgrounds!

I was having so much fun spray painting that I sprayed a 13"X13"X3" canvas tote:

Pretty Cool and lots of fun. I love projects that I can finish fast. I guess it's that instant gratification that drives my art. I need to keep several projects going, or at least my art journal close by if I have to wait for something to dry!

After laying down for several hours, I really needed to doodle something. I grabbed my Progresso Woodless Graphite Pencil (my favorite) and began a new Forest Faerie drawing on heavy watercolor paper so I can paint her later:

The night and weekend ended as I fell asleep drawing...

So how was your weekend?

Hope your week is starting off full of color and imagination!

April 11, 2014

it's friday...it's paint party friday, yay...

First off, I need to apologize to our lovely hostesses, Kristin and EVA for coming to the party this late in the evening.
No matter what the time is, the party can stay blog hopping into the weekend.
Want to know more about the fun?
Just go HERE!

This is still a WIP although I have an idea of where I am going with this.
I have given up on getting a good photo of the background. I've taken so many and still can't seem to capture the deep colors.

I am making the petals of the flowers from recycled clean-up paper towels, Golden Soft Gel Medium, and more layers of petals.

This flower shows better details of how the colors start to pop and a little of the layered texture.
The other two flowers on the right only have one layer of petals so far.

I guess we will have to wait until next week to see how this turns out...maybe I will end up with layers and layers of flowers, or a face somewhere, or a tree, who knows?

Time to go check in on this week's party-goers and do a little blog hopping. I will probably get to more blogs tomorrow morning with my cuppa cafe.

Happy Paint Party Friday!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and remember to play!

mia, wip's and chronic pain...

my heart rock in the yard I see every morning
I had this great idea to go to Sissy's house.
She is GREAT at marketing and I needed someone else to help me write bio's and descriptions of my different art styles.

Packed up all my stuff and off I went.
Without my computer or thumb drive!
So much for working on the internet.
So we went out shopping for a trip she was getting ready for and some girlie play.
I got totally pampered along with a pedicure.
And yes, I forgot my camera to take any pictures of anything.

Came back to where I stay. I got to see my youngest son before he goes out to Oklahoma for work for three months and to check out another side of the USA.
I am so happy that he gets this opportunity, yet as a mom the thought of my baby (he's 21) going so far away...

Then I was suppose to move in with a friend of mine and that fell through at the last minute so I was really sad. It would have been a great move but I guess there is another plan for my life. If anyone knows what that is, please let me know, I've been saying this for two years now.

And one of my best friends is moving away this month.
So, I've been a little depressed, okay maybe a little more than a little depressed. I feel alone and scared.

Here's some WIPs I have going on:

This is a background that has been sitting on my easel getting dusty. It took over 20 pictures of it to get just one that looked okay.

I didn't like the circle so I cut up a bunch of petals from old paint covered paper towels.

Painted the circle with gold acrylic mixed with gel medium for a very textured effect. I attached rows of petals on top of each other to create the beginning of the flower.

The flower will not be so bright and I have lots more ready to add, I just need to get up and do it :)

I started this Forest Faerie at Sissy's.
She is done in ink and colored pencil:

She isn't finished either...getting there:

And below is another drawing that went in a direction I was not planning.
She's kinda cool. There is graphite pencil, ink, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylics, and Golden Soft Gel Medium. I think that would constitute "mixed media" pretty well.
I'm hoping she looks good on your monitor. This was another one that was hard to capture in a picture even with editing.

I think she looked so much better without all the color:

I know the best thing for me would be to crank up the music and work on some of these WIPs, I just haven't seemed to get up and do it, especially since stress can cause pain to get so much worse, which is depressing and tiring...and there goes the cycle of chronic pain.

I have realized that in the world of blogging, so many bloggers are dealing with chronic medical conditions, pain, depression, anxiety...and other issues.
If you are, how do you handle it?
I want to stay positive and thrive.
Any suggestions?

I got this off Facebook and it was originally from The Brave Girls Club

Hope you are having a Terrific Tuesday!
